About the Maker

Their Story

In Slovenia’s Karst region, stone has shaped villages and homes for centuries. Jernej Bortolato brings that heritage into modern life, crafting bowls, vases, and grinders from local limestone rich with 50-million-year-old fossils. Once an electrician and knitter, he now blends skills from many trades to give stone new purpose and beauty.

Care Instructions

Cleaning
To preserve the natural beauty of limestone, avoid exposing the stone to harsh chemicals. Wipe the surface with a soft cloth and warm water. For deeper cleaning, use mild, pH-neutral soap. Avoid vinegar, lemon, bleach and abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the stone.
Drying
After cleaning, dry the stone thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots or mineral buildup.
