Their Story
In the hills of eastern Moravia, TON has been making bentwood furniture for over 160 years. This is the art of steam bending solid wood into curves that seem impossible, a craft that requires patient hands and deep knowledge passed down through generations. Care Instructions
Environment
Keep away from direct sunlight, heat sources (radiators, fireplaces), and humidity extremes (below 40% or above 60%). These cause colour change, surface cracking, and wood deformation. Use insulating mats under hot pots and bowls.
Lacquered surface
Dust with a soft lint-free cloth (cotton, linen, buckskin). Don’t press hard.
Wipe spills immediately, let the area dry.
Cleaning products not necessary if used, follow manufacturer instructions.
Never use: solvents (acetone, benzene, trichloroethylene), abrasive pastes/powders, furniture polish or oil/wax-based products.
Oiled surface
Dust with a dry lint-free cloth.
Wipe spills immediately in the direction of the wood grain, dry right after.
Re-oil periodically when spots feel rough or porous, use TON-recommended product, test on hidden area first. Video tutorials on ton.eu.
Never use: solvents, abrasive pastes/powders.
Screws & joints
Regularly check and tighten all screws and bolts. Loose joints cause damage over time.
